Quanta System Discovery PICO Series
The Quanta System Discovery PICO Plus, our powerful picosecond laser, features three built-in wavelengths: 532 nm (KTP), 694 nm (Ruby), and 1064 nm (Nd:YAG), enabling the removal of nearly all tattoo colors, among other applications.
The Discovery PICO Plus has proven to be a highly versatile and robust laser, also effective for indications such as hyperpigmentation and skin rejuvenation.
Additional Information
The Quanta System Discovery PICO Plus is the most powerful picosecond laser in the world. The Discovery PICO Plus features three wavelengths— 532 nm, 1064 nm, and 694 nm —for removing tattoos of various colors.
In addition to picosecond pulses, this laser offers three other pulse modes for various applications, such as skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, and treating pigmentation on darker skin.
The Discovery PICO Plus is available with either square or round spots, both of which are, of course, perfectly homogeneous. It is also the first 1064 nm picosecond laser to offer a fractional handpiece.
The large touchscreen provides a complete overview of the settings and makes the laser easy to use.
This system can be expanded with:
- Twain IPL handpiece
- Twain 2940 (Er:YAG) handpiece
- 8DF (deep fractional) handpiece
- 9HC (high coverage) handpiece
- VarioPulse
The highlights of this laser:
- Three wavelengths from the system (no DYE handpieces), suitable for all skin types
- High power for fast and effective treatments, even on large areas
- Safe and efficient, thanks in part to the square spot (easier alignment, even coverage, and reduced risk of complications)
- Highly versatile: three different models available and customizable as desired with, among other options, IPL and Er:YAG handpieces.
- The latest technology: VarioPulse
FAQs
The Quanta System Discovery PICO Plus is an advanced picosecond laser designed for applications such as tattoo removal, pigment treatments, and skin rejuvenation.
The system combines high peak powers with extremely short pulse durations, allowing for highly effective and safe treatment of pigment and tattoo ink.
The Discovery PICO Plus features three integrated wavelengths: 532 nm KTP, 694 nm Ruby, and 1064 nm Nd:YAG.
The combination of these wavelengths allows for the treatment of virtually all tattoo ink colors and various types of pigmentation.
The Discovery PICO Plus is highly versatile and can be used for, among other things:
- tattoo removal
- pigment treatments
- skin improvement and rejuvenation
- fractional skin resurfacing
- scar treatment
- treatment of (dermal) pigment
The specific treatment applications depend on the selected settings and the indication.
The picosecond laser operates with extremely short pulses. Due to this immense speed, the energy is not converted into heat, but into a photoacoustic effect.
This photoacoustic effect fragments pigment and ink particles while minimizing heat in the surrounding tissue.
Because of this limited heat, the risk of side effects or scarring is much lower.
The pigment and ink particles are so fine that the body can easily clear them away naturally.
Both Q-switched lasers and picosecond lasers operate with very short pulses. Yet it is precisely that same pulse duration that sets the two technologies apart.
The Q-Plus C EVO features Q-switched technology and operates in nanoseconds (one billionth of a second).
The powerful light pulses break the ink into tiny particles without damaging the surrounding skin. The particles are then eliminated by the body.
A picosecond laser operates with even shorter pulse durations, in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second).
Because of these ultrashort pulses, the picosecond laser releases less heat into the skin but pulverizes pigments from tattoos or pigmented lesions into even smaller particles.
The body can clear these small particles more easily and quickly.
Which technology is most suitable depends, among other things, on the tattoo, the pigment, the color(s), and the desired treatment.
Different colors of pigment and tattoo ink also react differently to laser light. With the 532 nm, 694 nm, and 1064 nm wavelengths, you as a practitioner have the ability and flexibility to tailor the wavelength to the pigments being treated.
This makes the Discovery PICO Plus exceptionally versatile for both tattoo removal and pigment treatments.
The VarioPulse® Technology developed by Quanta System offers various picosecond pulse options within a single system as an additional feature.
This allows you, as a practitioner, to tailor the pulse settings even more precisely to the specific indication and the area being treated.
Quanta System has developed three Pico-pulse protocols within this technology:
Pico Plasma
Pico Filling
Pico Tune-Ink
The Discovery PICO Plus is a picosecond laser, and the Q-Plus C EVO is a Q-switched laser (nanosecond).
See “What is the difference between a picosecond laser and a Q-switched laser?” for an explanation.
Choosing a laser is a very personal decision, and every practitioner has different needs.
Tobrix is happy to help you determine which laser best suits your practice. Together, we’ll look at the treatments you want to offer your target audience, the appropriate options for these, and any potential future expansions.
You’re always welcome to stop by for a no-obligation consultation and a demo of the system!
At Tobrix, we value long-term partnerships, so our service doesn’t end once you’ve purchased the system.
Upon delivery of your new system, we will, of course, assist you with installation and training.
Together with our clinical trainer, we ensure that you receive thorough training so that you can make the best use of the laser.
Each year, we provide additional training—either in collaboration with Quanta System or independently—through webinars, meetings, and other formats.
The continuity of your practice depends largely on the technical condition of the laser. Service is an indispensable part of this.
Tobrix has its own service and maintenance department staffed by expert and certified professionals. They are available to answer your questions, provide technical support, and perform annual service.
